Rachel Green Wore it First

I am one of many Netflix subscribers who impressively binge watched Friends in under 8 weeks. I immediately fell in love with Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe and Joey. These six ‘Friends’ taught me many life lessons like what not to do when you’re wearing leather pants and how to catch a monkey. But, I feel like Rachel taught me the most with her, now iconic, style.

I recently realized that Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green, anticipated many of 2018’s style trends. From slips and mom-jeans to flared sleeves and printed pants. Rachel Green remains the ultimate fashion muse.

Those tiny sunglasses that you’ve been seeing all over New York Fashion Week and on the likes of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian were first worn in the 90s. Aniston’s character was a big fan of them.

The 90’s were also the era of denim. Denim on denim has made a huge comeback this year.

The cast was especially fond of the mom jean. They rocked this fit way before supermodels Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

She also donned the elastic tattoo choker. Although this was more popular in 2017, there are numerous variations of dainty gold and silver chokers being released for spring of 2018.

I would like to say, “thank you” to Rachel Green for all of the inspiration that has and will continue to go into my closet this year. Now, let’s celebrate the fashion icon that is Rachel Green the way she would want us to, by indulging in cheap wine!
