How to Pack in Only a Carry-ON

Ditch your heavy luggage and learn to pack lighter. Here are three pro tips on how to pack a carry-on.

1. Narrow Down Your Items

Do not pack multiples. You only need one black dress, only one pair of jeans, and only one set of PJs for your weekend getaway. Obviously, you will need more than one pair of underwear, but that is the only exception. Only bring one pair of sunglasses, your most versatile pair. You do not need to pack those red cat eye statement glasses. Instead, stick to a cool aviator. Bring one purse that is large enough to fit everything you need during the day but is fancy enough to be used at night. You only need one pair of heels. Make sure they're comfortable and can take you from day to night.

2. Limit your Liquids

When packing makeup try to bring more powder rather than liquids. Instead of packing an entire bottle of perfume, bring a roller ball size. Samples are also great for traveling. A great tip is to stop by Sephora to pick up free samples. These are given in the amount under the airplane liquid limit and often last 3-4 uses.

3. Use Every inch of Space

Organization packs can help you fit more clothes into your luggage. From personal experience, these packs are definitely worth the money and can save you valuable space in a small luggage. Rolling, instead of folding, clothing also saves rooms. My last tip would be to pack socks and underwear inside the space in your shoes. This is also a great area to put little bags with jewelry as it prevents them from moving around.
